PARC CENTRAL

This project looks at the transformation of the landscape. It documents the gradual but inevitable transformation of the agricultural landscape into an urban landscape. The countryside in which I grew up becomes both witness to and subject of this transformation. These images confront us with the irreversibility of change, to which we are all subject in a constantly changing world. They also evoke the uniformity of these new habitats which, lacking any distinguishing features, could be found anywhere in the world. The absence of people in these images, for which no attempt has been made, also reveals the erosion of social ties that the inhabitants of these new urban landscapes are facing. I also wanted to highlight the contrast between a place halfway between rurality and wasteland, and an ostentatious and, what’s more, unfinished architectural project.
